THE DIMMER WINS AGAIN CHAMPAGNE TO BURWOOD SIR CHRYSTOPEER'S ALL AGED SYDNEY, April 8. The A.J.C. wag favored with ideal weather but only a moderate attendance for the third day of the autumn meeting at Randwick. The track was in splendid order, despite much use. The Doncaster winner, Sir Chrystopher, was again undefeated, and boat Mollison by a narrow margin in the All Aged Stakes. Amnion Ra gave a shock to his sup--porters in the Champagne Stakes. The New Zealander was slow to move out of the machine and never appeared a likelv winner.
The Dimmer, following his Cup vietory, had a further triumph, annexing the Cumberland Stakes after a keen tussle with Veilmond.
The consistent First Acre suffered defeat narrowly in the City Handicap and was only beaten in ,the final strides.
Second Hurdles: King Aura, .10.2 (Bracken), 1; ivirna, 9.10 (Lillyman) 2; Dr. Grace, 0.0 (Frost), 3. 'Eight started. Kelone made the running, but fell, leaving Kirn a to lead into the straight from Satrap and King Aura, who "came away in the straight and won by three lengths. Time, 4.42. ALL A.G-ED STAKES Sir Chrvstophcr, 8.12 (Munro) 1 Mollison, 8.12 (Pike) .. 2 Parkwood, 9.0 (Bartlc) ... 3 The other starter was Killarney. Morrison made the running to thedistance, where he was joined by Sir Chrystopher, and in n desperate finish Sir Chrystopher won by half a head. Time, .1.371. Coogee Handicap: Rolev, 7.13 (Cook), 1; Nngrada, 8.8 (Munro); 2; First Arrow, 8.12 (Johnstone), 3. Sixteen started. Pavilion led into the straight .from a bunched iield, from which emerged Roley, who went on to win with ease bv three lengths. Time, 1.513. CHAMPAGNE STAKES Burwood, 8.5 (Coutts) .. .1 Movie Star, 9.1 (Johnstone) .. 2 Amnion Ra, il.t (McCarton) 3 Fourteen started. Rory O'More made the running and led into the straight from Movie Star, Golden Gate, Hunt the Slipper, Amnion, Ra and Burwood, and the lastnamed, finishing stoutly, gained the verdict by two lengths. CUMBERLAND STAKES The Dimmer, 9.0 (BartleY .. 1 Veilmond, 8.4 (MeCartcn) .. 2 Chide, 9.0 (Pike) .. ..3 The other starter was Donald, who acted as pacemaker to the top of the straight, .where he was joined by Chide, Veilmond, and The Dimmer. Ten started. Gemlight Was the pacemaker from Soulton. First Acre and Arapuni. First, Acre, assumed command at, the distance and appeared the winner, but New Sweet, under pressure, got up in time to snatch victory by half a neck. Time, 2.10'].
REDUCTION OF STAKES A.R.C. FORCED TO ACT CONTINUED FALL IN REVENUE (Per Press Association.) 'AUCKLAND, last night. Following upon the continual decrease in the totalisator" investments, and consequently in the revenue, the committee of the Auckland Racing Club has decided to reduce the stakes for the winter meeting .to be held on June 3,6, and Bby £2050, from £13,700 to £11,50.3. Each of the 21 races on the programme shares in the reduction. The largest cut has been made in the stake for the Northern Steeplechase, which has been reduced by £SOO. from £2OOO to £ISOO. The prize money for the Great Noil hern Hurdles comes down by £350, from £1750 to £I4OO, and that for the Cornwall Handicap by £250, from £IOOO to £750. Of the remaining 18 races/ one, the Winter Steeplechase, has been reduced by £l5O, 11 by £IOO each, and six by £SO each.
