Naims Pasha, with liis campaign cohorts, arrived at Benisuef and found the station pitkyied by troops and police. Die demonstrators were not allowed to leave the platform, where there was no provision for food and drink. Ihe demonstrators were idle all day, and began to feel the cold. At dusk they were still comfortless. At 10.30 o’clock, when the. special train drew in, they were invited to embark for Cairo. Nalias asked what it they refused, and tlie commander intimaied that he would use force. The disgruntled demonstrators entrained. and the farce ended, very tamely.
