LADY HOUSTON'S APPEAL
DANGER OF SOCIALISM "WAKE UP OUR MEN!" LONDON, Feb. 20. "I ina'ic my curtsey and tender my homage to splendid Mrs. Victor Bruce. I feel that we women of to-day are more wide-awake than our men, and see more clearly the deadly danger of Socialism." This passage was contained in a letter from Lady Houston, which was read at a dinner given in London last night by the British Aviation Hospitality Association and the Women's Automobile and Sports Association in recognition of Mrs. Victor Bruce's flight around the world.
"This Government," the letter continued, "is trying to destroy the soul of England and to bring ruin and beggary to our people. "'[ have dished them over the Schneider Trophy, but the Navy and the Army must be saved from destruction. All three forces of defence have been dragged down in order to make it easier for England's enemies to come and wipe us out directly they are ready. "And England, once the proudest and most glorious nation in the world, will, unless we women can wake up our men, be destroyed because we have eyes that see not and ears that hear not.
"Women of England, open wide your eyes and save our motherland, for you can do it."
