BROOKLANDS SENSATION SIR M. CAMPBELL'S LUCK (Eke. Tel. Copyright—United Tress Assn.) (Received April 7. 2 p.m.) LONDON, April G. "!. suppose my "(mil luck holds. It certainly was one of my worst experiences, said Sir Malcolm Chmpbell, after ii narrow shave from a. fatal smash during the Easter races at Brooklahds, in a 'handicap in which 15 competitors participated. Sir Malcolm Campbell was driving his own Bugatti, doing 100 miles ail hour. He had" braked down to take a bend, when the track rod holding the front wheels in position broke with a terrific crash and lore out the, spokes- of one wheel. The other end jammed the second wheel. The Bugatti zig-zagged wildly. Thousands, lining the banking breathlessly watched Sir Malcolm Campbell desperately lighting to keep the car on the track, one side of which was high banking, over which a fall would result in almost certain death. Crowds were packing the rails. The car careered perilously for at least half a minute, when Sir Malcolm Campbell, with a terrific effort, regained control. He got out cool and collected, but said he did not know how he managed, to hold her on the .track. It was a ghastly experience.
