100 PER CENT. MORE WORK NEWCASTLE, March 7. Remarkable statements were made at a meeting of the council of the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce to-day regarding the results of the formation of a union to take the place of the Waterside Workers’ Federation, when that organisation was deregistered by the Arbitration Cburt for defiance to the Court and its officials in 1928. Speakers declared that since iho new union came into being pilfering bad dropped fiom a big sum annually lo a nominal figure. The amount of. work clone in handling cargoes, such as wool, had increased by 10J per cent. '1 bis, it was asserted, bad been the experience of all shipping companies. The council decided to approach the Senate in protest against the Sculliu ■Governments grant of preference in wharf labor to members of the federation. ,
