THE REGENT I The hist performance will be given at tile Regent this evening of “The Border Legion. Zane Grey, the popular author, made this black page of American lawlessness one of his best romances, and it is from his book that the pioture is taken. “The Border Legion’’ was not merely a figment of a clever author’s 'brain—it was a very real and terrible fact in the early days of the American West. A fearless, ruthless band of outlaws recruited. from the disbanded soldiers of the Civil War, they ruled the vast tract of country that, lies down near the border. For years they were invincible; their leader was a man of fearless courage and possessed of unusual intelligence. The picture is most interesting and absorbing. Richard Arlen, Jack Holt, and' Fay Wray lead an excellent cast. To-morrow the celebrated actress, Greta Garbo, will appear in her latest picture, ‘‘Romance.” Miss Garbo*plays * the role ■of Rita Cavallini, an opera singer, who falls in love with an English clergyman. Supporting Greta Garbo arq Lewis Stone and Gavin Gordon. ,
MAJESTIC THEATRE
“The Argyle Case,” with Thomas Meighan in the role of Alexander. Kavton, Will be presented for the last time this evening. “The Argyle Case” is a •mystery that will baffle the keenestminded person. A millionaire is shot dead at midnight in his own house. He had no known enemies, and the person upon whom the giuilt appears to lie is beautiful Mary Morgan, his adopted daughter. Everything points to her being the slayer, but the detective refuses to believe her guilty. In his investigations he discovers that there is an unknown woman in the case, and all endeavors to find this woman are useless until he hits upon a. brilliant idea. He succeeds in locating; her, and traps the actual killer. The interest of the is remarkable, and it is certain that, few will guess who the real assassin is.
To-morrow there will be a change of programme, and two really excellent pictures will appear, the smart sparkling comedy, “Strictly Unconventional,” end “Roaring Ranch,” with popular Hoot Gibson in the lead.
