PROMOTER’S EXPLANATION
BRISBANE, Feb. 25. Replying to comments of the New Zealand Lamis Department, Dr. A. J. Ross states that he never questioned the fact that Sunday Island belonged to the New Zealand Government, but yyhile lie ,wa.S In New Zealand he became president of the Sunday Island Settlement Association, the objects of which were to purchase 275 acres freehold in the centre of the island from a man named Parker and then settle 14 families there. Each family would get; 20 to 34 acres, ho offering financial assistance to the scheme. As to the New Zealand contention that 275 acres would not support 14 families, this was a matter of opinion, as it was the richest land on the island.
