RACING CLUB’S ECONOMIES
SYDNEY, Dec. 16. Tattcrsall’s Club committee to-day decided in view of falling attendances and other shrinkages in racing revenue to eliminate official race day lunches. A SENSATIONAL CRASH JOCKEY INJURED IN BRISBANE BRISBANE, Doc. 16. What looked to be at one time one of the most serious crashes that have occurred at Ivedron Park happened to-day in the second division of the Division Handicap. Fortunately most of the jockeys concerned were not seriously injured, but a well-known unregistered rider, K. Peterson, was taken to hospital suffering from a fractured arm and a. severe shaking. A useful old horse, Gatinan, died on the course from injuries.
The accident occurred in a field of nine, three horses fewer Ilian the number allowed under the new regulations. The explanation is that- Jayardee galloped on the heels of another horse and fell, bringing down Onucussa, Bombstick, and Gat man. The accident occurred at the home turn, and the field were fairly close together rounding the turn. The situation looked very bad, with jockeys and horses in a. struggling mass.
