HOMESTEAD DESTROYED
OWNER’S HEAVY LOSS (Per Press Association.) BLENHEIM, this day. Early yesterday morning the homestead of Thomas "Walker, of Grassmere, was totally destroyed by fire, together with the contents. The house comprised 10 rooms, and was formerly a well-known accommodation house.. The origin of the outbreak is a! mystery. Mr. Walkqr was in the house alone, having just returned from Efanmer. His wife and son were left at Hanmer. Mr. Walker was awakened at about 2 o’clock in tne morning, and discovered the house ablaze, escaping in his nigjit attire. The flames made a clean sweep. The insurance on the house was £7OO, and on the contents £4OO, in the Sun office. There was a- separate cover of £135 on a player piano, with the North British and Mercantile office. Mr. Walker is a heavy loser, many valuable possessiohs lost including ambergris worth £75,
