FREEZING APPARATUS

NEW INVENTION TRIED OUT LONDON, Dec. 16. A representative of the Australian Press Association at Fleetwood saw a demonstration of a. new freezing apparatus, known as the “Z" process, the invention of an Esllionum, which is expected to revolutionise freezing methods. The demonstration was given in the presence of Mr. R. H. Ileywood, the Australian veterinary officer and Mr. J. R. Vickery, of the Cambridge Low Temperature Research Station. It was pointed out. that tile process, if installed in overseas meatworks, would eliminate much waste, because packages of chops and steaks can be sent abroad frozen, whereas under present conditions the slightest flaw in a carcase means that, none of it can be. exported. To lest the effects of cold storage meat tlnis processed, Mr. Vickery is going to Australia in January, and will inspect a trial consignment arriving in Melbourne in March.
