GANDERS AS GUARDS
RAIDERS IN HAMPSHIRE LONDON, Dec. 20. Legend recounts how a cackling gander when it saw the enemy climbing over the wall saved the Roman Capital. Now Hampshire poultry breeders are advertising for old ganders to guard their farms against 1 aiders, who are becoming very daring—riding over tlie countryside in fast motor vans and stealing eggs and Christmas poultry. Mr. L. G. Richards, a well-known Rhode Island poultry-breeder, said that ganders give warning quicker thrill watch-dogs, and they know how to break a man’s legs with their wings.
