THE SHEEPSKIN DUTY
1 A FRESH COMPLICATION EXPORTERS SEEK INJUNCTION MELBOURNE, Dec. 23. The resolution of the House of Representatives imposing an export duty of Id per lb. on sheepskins, led to an unexpected development in the High Court, which had to be specially summoned to deal with the situation which arose.
T. Dewcz and Co., Alelbonvne, issued a writ against the Commonwealth Government and against J. Musgrave, claiming an injunction to restrain the defendants or their servants or agents from imposing the demand or collectng the export duty of 4d per lb. on sheepskins with wool exported from the Commonwealth by the plaintiffs.
The court made an order that tho Collector of Customs give security to abide by the result of any proceedings mentioned in the Customs Act by., applicant, such security to consist of the payment into court to tho credit of this matter, of all duties; paid by the applicant with respect to sheepskins.
