Referring to the peace movement, the Pope declared it impossible that peace could last long, as there were uncompromising nationalism and district competition, instead of genuine love of country and united co-operation. “We cannot believe the threats of war,’ he said. “No civilised State could be so monstrously homicidal as to think of war while the world is still suffering from the effects of the last one. }>
Misconstructions placed on the arrangements sanctioned by the church in connection with the marriage of King Boris, said the Pope, led him to prepare an encyclical upon mixed marriages, which is shortly being issued. Mixed marriages are discouraged by the church. King Boris’ marriage was only sanctioned under strict 'conditions accepted in writing by the bridal couple.
