ANTI-FASCIST PLOT
SPECTACULAR TRIAL THREE LEADERS GAOLED ROME, Dec. 22. Escorted by carabineers and members of Ihe Fascist, militia, live nmle prisoners, charged witli printing seditious leaflets, were marched into the iron cage in readiness for trial before ft tribunal consisting of four Fascist colonels. Two women were spared the ignominy of the cage. One of those, Bosia, who was ill, was removed from court by the Duee’s permission. A letter sent by her to the Deco from a nursing home was read in court. It thanked Signor Mussolini for his kindness, and admitted that she had panted leaflets for the sake of her son, Lairo, who is at present a refugee in Geneva. It stated that she had not the slightest knowledge of politics, and begged Signor Mussolini \b excuse her “incredible ingenuousness.” The Grown Prosecutor, declaring that a mother’s love had misled her, recommended her acquittal, the judges agreeing to the request. Vanciguerra'and Ifendi were each sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment, and Umberto Gelmctti, a schoolmaster, to three years’ imprisonment. The others wore acquitted owing fo their innocently having become involved in the intrigue.
