NEW BRITISH BOARD DEALING W r ITH DISPUTES • (British Official Wireless.) Roc, 10 a.in. RUGBY, Nov. 25. The Secretary for Mines, Mr. E. Shimvell, announces the composition of the Goal -Mines National Industrial Board, appointed under the Coal -Mines Act for the hearing of disputes between coalowners and miners. Some difficulty and delay have been caused by Die refusal of the Mining Association, the Federation of British Industries, the British Chambers of Commerce, and the Confederation of Employers’ Organisations to make nominations.
The -Manchester Guardian says the constitution of the board will command confidence. it is representative, on the owners’ sole as well as on tlie miners’ of considerable sections of industry. No Booth Wales or Scottish owner had consented to sit, but coalowners’ associations in other districts were more friendly. ACTION IN GERMANY REDUCTION IN PRICES (Received Nov 25. noon) BERLIN, Nov. 24. Arbitrators reduced the metal workers’ wages by 7$ per cent. Ruhr vjoal owners have given notice of a 10 per cent, cut in wages. They recently red.iced the price of coal by 9 per cent, to defeat successful British competition.
