BROADCASTING

TO-NIGHT’S FEATURES IYA: Mr. N. AT. Richmond, 8.A., will discuss tho problems of capital and labor. The Minus Fives (entertainers) will give a novelty entertainment entitled''“A Night of Convivialities.”. They will be assisted by the Studio Trio and Frank Wade's Melody Boys. Dance music will continue until .11 p.m. 2YA will broadcast a talk .about “Gardening Hints.” The Wellington City Salvation Army Band will give, a concert, assisted by the Lyric Male Voice Quartet, Airs. R. D. Potts (soprano) and Mr. A. It. Seal (sketch artist). 3YA: Two quartets will be heard, “In This Hour of Softened Splendour” and “Softly Falls the Shades of Evening.” Tho vocalists will he the Grand Opera Quartet, the members of which will also sing a number of solos and duets of a miscellaneous nature. Humorous recitations will be given by Mrs. AT. Williams. The concert will include items, by the Studio Instrumental Octet. Miss Irene Morris and Miss Thelma- Cusack (violinists) and the orchestra, will play Bach's “Largo.” 4YA : 'Silent day.

The broadcasting over the radio of talks to farmers was commented on by members of the executive of the North Canterbury branch of the Now Zealand Farmers’ Union at its meeting the other day, when it was mentioned that some of the talks were difficult to follow on Account of tins speed at which the announcers spoke, states the Christchurch Press. One member was keenly alive to tho trouble. “Some of those, announcers talk so fast that you have to he a shorthand listener to understand them,” ho said.
