CONSTITUENTS OF ATOM
DOCTOR PUZZLES SCIENTISTS LONDON, Se.pt. 9. A 28-yoar-old scientist, Dr. P. A. Dime (Cambridge), startled and puzzled the scientists of the physical science section of the British Association yesterday, when lie expounded his new theory of the constituents of the atonl. They were puzzled, because most of them, including the section’s chairman, Dr. F. E. Smith, of the Royal .Society, frankly confessed their inability to understand it. Even Sir Oliver Lodge was unable to grasp the young man’s theory. “It is now to me,” declared Sir Oliver Lodge. "Dr. Dirac has developed the theory of the proton and the electron, which, so far as I understand it, commends itself greatly to me. He seems to find no objection in the great crow tied - ness of space. Matter in an infinitesimal part of space. Space is the .important thing. Matter is merely an occasional interruption iii its continuity. I welcome this new theory. It developed it should lead us on the way wo want to go. Dr. Dirac,, in an. interview, said lie was quite unable to express his meaning in simpler language without being inaccurate.
