DAIRYING ON THE COAST NGATIPOROU ANNUAL MEETING (Special to tlic Herald.) RUATORIA, this day. A must successful season for production, with satisfactory butterfat payments taking into consideration the low state of the market, was re ported at the annual meeting of shareholders of the Ngatiporou Co operative Dairy Go., Ltd., held in Ruatoria on Saturday. Sir Apirana Ngata presided over an attendance of about 90. H was reported that the season closed with a production of 39* tons, tin increase of 9ti tons on the previous year. Established at the beginning of the 192.T-2ti season, the progress had been wonderful, the yearly output being: 1925-21), (12 tons; 192(1-27, 130 tons; 1927-2,5, 20(1 tons; 1925-29, 255 tons; 1929-50, 579 tons. The-average grade of butter, representing 9(1.01)7 per. cent, of the butter manufactured, was 93.525 points. The prospects for a further record production were particularly bright, for already the factory had turned out 13 tons more than for the corresponding period last season. The number of suppliers had increased from Ll 5 last season to 211 to date, the new dairymen being in several parts of tilts district. The company now drew its supplies from Hicks Bay to AVaipivo Bjty. 1 lie season so far had no' been ideal for dairying, for feed had been backward as a result of strong winds and cold weather, and the in crease in production, therefore., was most encouraging. It was expected that the season would conclude with an output of 4.50 tons. More pedigree stock in the form of 15 tine Jersey bulls had just arrived, making a total of 120 pedigree bulls in the district. The latest 15 had bee.it purchased in Taranaki, and should prove very valuable in building up high-producing herds.
