Further consideration was given at the last meeting of the Auckland Education Board to the protest of a country school committee against the appointment of a woman teacher in preference to a married man with lower grading marks. The woman applicant was warned by the board that if she accepted the position she was likely to meet with opposition from the committee. Despite this, she intimated to the board that she still desired the appointment. Consequently the appointment was authorised.
