THE SINGAPORE BASE QUESTIONS IN COMMONS (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) LONDON, April 18. In the House of Commons, Commander J. M. Kenworthy inquired if in view of the three-power tieaty.it was proposed to proceed with the new Singapore base, especially the provision for facilities for docking battleships .Mr. A. V. Alexander, First Lord of the Admiralty, said the matter would need to be carefully reviewed in the light of the treaty without delay, and after full consultation with the Dominions.

Commander Kenworthy: Has not the position been altered by the announcement that the Government looks to the eventual disappearance of battleships? What is the useof proceeding with battleship docks? .Mr. Alexander said no useful purpose could be served at present in discussing that. Commander Kenworthy: Can we be assured that useless expenditure will be averted under the Labor Government's policy? Mr. Winston Churchill: Do we understand 'hat there will be no alteration in policy until after the Imperial Conference? Mr Alexander: T did not say that, but as soon as the Naval Conference is over, we will consider full consultation with the Dominions.
