HATED SIGHT OF HER
WIFE ALLEGES CRUELTY Ethel May Cassidy made allegations of cruelty'against her husband, Woolcot Frederick Cassidy, before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., in the Polico Court at Palmerston North, when she sought an order for separation and maintenance, the application being undefended. In evidence, complainant said that she married the defendant on August 14, 1926, and that two months later he left, refusing to take her with him. He sent her money, and she later went to live with him at Waikarcmoana, where he allegedly hit and abused her. He had also refused to see her when sho was ill. They had subsequently lived together in Palmerston North, and he had, she alleged, hit her again, and often knocked her down. He had said that ho was sick of her and that he hated the sight of her.
Maude. Trembath, a neighbor of (be complainant, gave evidence that early one Sunday morning, complainant came into her house crying and saying that her husband bad knocked her down and kicked her. Her legs were bruised. In granting the separation order, his worship directed (hat complainant be paid weekly maintenance at the rate of 7.0 s for herself, and 10s for the child of the marriage.
