ALTERATION IN RULES
UNIONS TO BE CIRCULARISED
(Par Press Association.)
WELLINGTON, last night
Changes in the Rugby rules wcro referred to in a discussion which took place at this evening's meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union. The topic was raised when a resolution passed at the recent annual meeting was considered. This resolution was to tho effect that the old kick into touch rule should bo reverted to throughout New Zealand during) tho coming season. One of the members said that the reason of the resolution was to make the players fit when it came to meeting the British, team. After a. discussion in which the importance of the heel mark regulation and tho replacement rule as they affected New Zealand players was mentioned, the meeting decided that the unions, as well as the Referees' Association, should be circularised at once.
Mr. E. Wylie moved, and Mr. H. Leith seconded, that these bodies be informed that the International Board rules will apply to the British games, and that the old kick into touch rule is now in force in all matches for the rest of the season, in accordance with the resolution recently passed. The heel mark and no replacement rules were, to be explained in the same circular letter. .Air. Wylie's motion was carried.
