ATLANTIC HERRING

INEXHAUSTIBLE SUPPLY PRINCE RUPERT, Feb. 21. TliaL it is almost impossible to exhaust tlio supply of herring, owing to the remarkable recuperative Yesources of this fish, was stated by Dr. A. (! Huntsman, head of tho biological and fisheries experimental stations in eastern Canada, in an address to the Rotary Club here. The distinguished scientist said that on the Atlantic const young herring were taken in enormous quantities, without, the slightest effect on the supply. They feed on a. small shrimp that gets its sustenance directly from tho vegetable substances formed from tin l fertilising salts coming up from the depths. By this direct means tho herring converts an immense amount of food material into a form suitable for tho use of man.
