WEAR WOOL STOCKINGS

APPEAL TO WOMEN CAPETOWN, Feb.^22. “Wi' want woollen -goods, ’’ 'is tjic slogan suggested by :i wool farmer*s wife in the Itichniond division in the course of a vigorous appeal tp the* women of South Africa, from the most 'fashionably dressed to the poorest (■ hiss. *‘ \W must wear woollen goo*is to help our countrymen and improve the prospects of the country in the ugly lime of depression,” says the appeal. “ |p>t, us decide to wear woollen hose. 1 don’t mean those thick, old-fashioned black ribbed stockings our grandmothers used to wear that made the most shapely leg look ungainly. If South African women ask shopkeepers for light woollen hose they will order them from the manufacturers, and woollen goods are hieing made in most beautiful delicate shades. ‘‘Eight woollen -stockings will be more comfortable than those of. artificial silk, ami will do nway with the necessity to wear am extra tenuis sock. No man' should hesitate to wear woollen hose, and we must, all have grit, enough to say, ‘No, unless 1 can have a woollen stocking or sock 1 will go without if need be till some come into tin' country,’ and thus help our farmers to sell their wool.’’
