OPOTIKI STOCK SALE
The monthly stock sale was held at the Opotiki salcyards on Thursday. The X.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. reports: "We had a full yarding of cattle, no sheep being offered. Competition was keen for all cattle, forward 3-year steers showing an advance on late rates. On account of Messrs. Saxby Bros., Honpoto, wc sold 4-yr bullocks to £.ll 15s, 2|-yr steers to £9 19s lid. On account of Walter Hill ami Sons, Maungarou slut ion, we sold 3|-yT steers to £ll Is, L'Cyr steers io £!»llf>s. We report a total clearance under Hie hammer. Prices were: fat cows, £ti Ids to £S 10s; forward cows, £5 (is to £(i 4s; stores, £3 8s to £">; weaner steers, to £.", Bis; 18-month steers, to £(> 17s (id; steers, to £9 lils; ;U-yr bullocks, £l(i His to £l2 7s (id; weaner heifers, Shorthorn, £L' 12s (id; Jersey cross, to £; fia; 18 month Jersey-cross heifers, good colors, but poor condition, to £5 His; springing heifers, to £7 fis; cows, to £8; Jersey bulls, to £G ills; working bullocks. £fi to £lO 25." Messrs. Dalgety ami Co., Ltd., report: ''There was a heavy yarding of cattle, mostly good quality Shorthorn and Hereford, which sold under keen competition to a large attendance of Ihi vers from all parts of the Bay of Plenty and Rotorua. We quote: Fat cows, £(i Ids to £8; forward cows, £4 to £5 17s (id; store cows, £2 ,15s to £:: His; grown bullocks, £9 2s 6(1 to £lO H)s; 2-yr steers, £7 to £8 10s; yearling steers, £4 15s to £5 lis; cows and calves, £7 dairy heifers, £4 15s to £5 lis."
