MANY VOLUNTEERS (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The call for volunteers for the special military police foY Samoa brought, a prompt response in Wellington yesterday. "We can fill any demand the Defence Department is likely to make and the response is eager and adequate," said the Commissioner of Police, Ml*. W. 15. Mcllveney. "We have arranged the quota for the four cities and I have been deluged with telegrams from all over the country. We are only the recruiting agents for the Defence Department, but there is no limit to the force we can furnish if necessary. Some of the applicants write in most enthusiastic terms and indicate their keenness to 'face the bail of bullets' as they put it." DUNEDIN, last night. About 20 applications for positions in the Samoan military police called at the central police station at Dunedin to-day, most of them being men of a good type.
