LLOYDS BANK
HATRY AFFAIR LOSSES NO MONEY INVESTED (Received Feb. 1, noon.) LONDON, Jan. 31, At a meeting of Lloyds Bank, Mr. Beaumont said lie was pleased to lie presiding. He referred to fantastical figures handled about concerning the losses the hank incurred in the II a try affair. “Let me put an end to these wild stories,” he declared. “We have not a single penny invested in any company of the Ha try group. We made advances to them almost entirely against what: we believed were trustee securities or good stock exchange securities. We should suffer little loss but for the fact that many municipal securities are now challenged as having been fraudulently issued. Difficult questions concerning this will have to he settled in the law courts. Until then it is impossible to say the amount of our loss.”
