Brooks, jun., near Millaa Millaa, on the Atherton tableland yesterday, led to the discovery of tho corpse of a boy wedged tightly by the hips inside. Richard Bock, 14, left home near Millaa Millaa on Sunday morning to gather passionfruit. No anxiety was felt when ho did not return at night, as ho was in the habit of staying with neighbors. As he still was missing yesterday morning, however, searches \yore instituted, hut without avail. About 9 a.in. Charles Williams, an employee of Brooks, noticed parrots flying round a slump 12ft. high, on the top of which a hat was resting, Closer investigation revealed the lad’s body jammed feet downwards inside. Apparently lie climbed the stump to secure young birds, and slipped. The body was extricated with difficulty with the aid of ropes. Death probably was due io shock and exposure.
The day was very hot, and inside the stump it was like an oven. Several hours probably elapsed after the accident before tho hoy died.
