ORMOND SPORTS
RECORD ATTENDANCE FIRST FINE DAY FOR YEARS For the first occasion within the past seven years, fine weather favored the animal meeting of the Ormond Sports Club, held to-day at the Ormond Domain. In recent years the club has been unfortunate in having its gatherings marred by rain, and although the heat to-day was not quite as intense during the afternoon as it had been earlier in the day, the weather remained fine. The attendance was a record, the almost. perfect conditions attracting many people, from Gisborne and adjoining districts. In the amateur athletic events, the fields were good, and most of the contests developed into close finishes. A splendid programme of horse events drew keen competition.
