A WRONG IMPRESSION
P. AND T. CHARGES INFORMATION DIVULaED (Ppt Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Mr. G. MeNamara, Secretary of the G.P.0., states that a wrong impression has been created by the reports that the men dismissed from the Auckland telegraph office were charged merely with using the office telephones to make bets. The accusation was that .they had disclosed information which came to them officially. They would be entitled to a refund of the amount paid for superannuation, and had the right of appeal, Sir Joseph Ward has received a protest against the sentence, and replied that he would attend to it when the official papers reached him. Tho organiser of the P. and T. Employees' Association has given out a statement that the men wero charged with discussing racing over the telephone, and that what they had done was nothing serious.
