CONSTABLE ARRESTED
ALLEGED THEFT OF £l7l (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) MELBOURNE, Dec. 29. Ernest Simonsen, police constable at Prahran, has been arrested and charged with theft of £l7l theatre takings left at the Prahran police station on Thursday night for safe keeping. He has been remanded till January 7. The takings at a local theatre were left at the Prahran police station for safety owing to the banks being closed. The money was placed in an empty cell. Next morning the cell was found still locked but the money was gone-
