Owing to the flood in the Grey River recently three boats in port at Greymouth'were obliged to operate their engines to counteract the force of the flood. A snag caught in the propellers of the Knnnn and two hours elapsed before the obstacle worked its wav out, and the propellers regained their full use. The Kanna, however, was in a less exposed position than the Ngakuta and Rata, both of the latter’s engines being kept going at half-speed the whole of one night.
