NEW FRENCH SUBMARINE LARGEST IN THE WORLD LONDON, Nov. 12. The neiv French submarine, the Sureouf, will be launched at Cherbourg on November 18. She will be the world’s largest submarine. The Daily Mail’s Paris correspondent says submersible cruiser would be a truer name than submarine. Her deck is armoured, her 14 torpedoes are so arranged that she is able to attack an enemy ship in any position, and there are also four il-incli quick-firers, as w'dl as antiaircraft guns. The vessel is 400 ft. long, with a speed of 19 knots. Her displacement afloat is 3257 tons and submerged 3301. She can submerge to 560 ft. The largest submarine now afloat is a British vessel, which is 350 ft. long, with six torpedo tubes. She cost over £1,000,000.
