CONSIGNMENT FOR NEW YORK BARIS, October 28. Memories of the steamer Oregon's reputation ns a “champagne ship" at: Gallipoli wen* recalled to-day when die was about to sail for New York from Dunkirk. The customs officers learned that 1 1,000 Bottles of champagne wore hidden in the bales of rugs among the cargo and threatened to seize them. The captain met the situation by returning the bales to tho quay.
