The Wairoa County revenue for the month totalled £530 5s sd—the. lowest on record for a number of years—and included the following items: Rates £35 5s 7d, heavy traffic licenses £67 0s lid, pound fees £2O. motor drivers’ fees £6, contractors' deposits £312, employees’ insurance compensation £7 18s 6d. hawkers' licenses £5, refund by Bower Board £2O, rent Tnrapatiki reserve £3O, rent Mi ire re reserve £6 10s, hire and sale of material £l7 10s 3d, building permits £3, from Bubfie Works Department £95 16s sd. Tho following fenders, all for the delivery of metal, have been accepted by the Wairoa County Council: Krepete road, Messrs. Ellison Bros. ; AfaliiaTalde Cape, Mr. F. Foley; Mangaone, Mr. Alex. Smith; Mangapoike, Mr. A. F. Ilahgood: Maraetaha, Mr. R. J. Austin; Buapapa-Waikaretaheke, Mr. T. Hall: Glinka branch road. Mr. W. Harvey: Maroniauku road. Mr. A. F. Ilahgood; Ruioliangi road. Mr. W. .1. Ib-ownc; Itotoparu, .Messrs. Brown and Beale; lleielieielau, Mr. G. Boyd; Ruataniwlia, Mr. B. Itugslod; I’uarakai pulara, Mr. G. Bovd; Waingoro, Mr. R. S. Naltrass: Mangarcwarcwa, Mr. C. E. Hill; Rotokakarangu, Messrs. Janes and Rugsled: Mnhnka Bulere. Messrs. Broun and Beale; Waimana, Messrs. Ellison Bros.; Bulere block, Messrs. Brown and Beale;, Nuliaka River road, Mr. A. Smith; Wailii, Mr. T. Eotev, provided tin* Government, subsidy is available; tar-sealing WairoaFrasortown road, two miles, 18ft. wide, to top of hill beyond the racecourse gate, Mr. W. McGaffin. A proviso was added that should it. ho found necessary at certain spots to use more bitumen. than far it be paid for at the schedule rate. This work canoes a highways subsidy of £2 for £l. Tho country chairman, Mr. A. G. Nolan, yesterday received a telegram from the Minister of Public Works slating that lie would be willing to receive deputations on the evening of November 21. A number of deputations are being arranged, and it appears as if the Hon. IC. A. Ransom will have a busy time.
The district scholars will be examined this week. A change in the percentages lias been instituted on this occasion. The meeting of creditors in the bankrupt estate of Pitan Tibi,. a native laborer, of Nuliaka, lapsed for want of a quorum. The , debts totalled £l4l 13s, and the assets were nil. Only the official assignee, the bankrupt, and bis solicitor, Mr. E. .T. Green, were present. Before Air. V. E. Winter, J.P., in the Police Court, Thomas Dillon was fined £1 for drunkenness. Two other men. Harry Davis and Ed. Riley, were lined 10s each for similar offences; fur a second offence Riley was called on to pav an extra 10s. Air. J. Dillon, oT the Clyde Hotel, staff, is at present a patient in the Wairoa Hospital.—Nurse Turnbull, of the Wairoa Hospital staff, has resign ed owing to ill health.—Airs. Af. Monk, of Auckland, has returned home. Air. W. T. Whealen, architect, has been appointed to supervise the erection of the new hospital building. Nurse I. Bennett was tendered a motion of condolence at the Hospital Board meeting on the death <>f her father, aged 74 years, at Wellington.
