HUNTLY MEDICAL CLUB
B.M.A. OPPOSITION SUCCESSFUL (Per Pr«*i» Assnclntlpn ' HAMILTON, this day. The British Medical Association lias bean successful in its opposition to the scheme for co-operation between the Waikato Hospital Board and the Huntly Medical Club. The association objected to the board appointing a doctor to attend club members in their homes as well as in hospital, contending that tips was unfair interference’ with their private practice. A private conference was held by the board recently with Dr. Elliot, president of the 8.M.A., and Huntly representatives. A report was drawn up asking the Huntly people to revise the scheme so as to meet the wishes of the association. Mr. Smith, the Huntly representative, stated at to-day’s meeting of the board that the people realised it was impossible to secure a suitable doctor against the association’s opposition. The chairman, Mr- Campbell Johnstone, said he hoped IJuntly residents would make arrangements similar to those in force at Te Kuiti, the hoard subsidising a local doctor for hospital work.
