A fairly well attended meeting was held in the 'Borough Council Chambers this afternoon to make arrangements in connection with the visit of Their Excellencies the Governor-General, Sir Charles Fergusson, and Lady FCrgusson on 'November 21. The meeting was attended by representatives of various local bodies, and other institutions interested, including several ladies, and was presided over by the Mayor, Mr. 1). W. Coleman. The building activity that has been so evident in the town during the past six months, and which has occasioned more than one expression of opinion that at the present time I'almerston North is going ahead more than any other town in New Zealand is further emphasised by the returns of building permits issued for the month, which show an increase of £l-3,107 over those issued in October of last year. The total value of the- permits issued this month is £25,553. —Dominion.
