TO-NIGHT'S PEATURES 2YA : At 9 o'clock Mr. Justice MaeGregor will deliver a lecturctte on "The, Art of Public Speaking." There will bo brief relays from the concert chamber of the Wellington Town Hall, where a programme of music is being presented by the Symouds-Ellwood-Short trio. The Ariel Singers will render the vocal portion of the studio programme, their items on this occasion consisting of old Kiiglish folk songs, a type of music this quartet of talented artists has specialised
3YA: Mr. E. .1. Bell, Christchureh public illibrarian, wiill! give his fortnightly book review at 7.15 p.m. At 7.50,1 Dr. Chas. Ohilton will review the September number of the Journal of Agriculture. This is one of the 3YA Primary Productions Committee's talks. The New Brighton Municipal Band, which presented such a bright programme a few weeks ago, has prepared good entertainment. Also contributing to the programme will be Mrs. Jean Scrimshaw (soprano), Miss Maud Stringer (contralto), Mr. Peter Macdonald (tenor). Mr. Robert Robspn (bass), Mr. 11. Inslone (reciter), and the- Studio Trio. IYA and 4YA. Silent day.
NEW STATION FOR DUNEDIN OPENING ON WEDNESDAY An event of importance to broadcasting in New Zealand takes place on
Wednesday evening next, when the Hon. .1. B. Donald. Postmaster-General officially opens the new station for <IYA Duncdiu. This station is of the same power as that of IYA and ,".YA, fiOO wails, and the plant is the most modern that is procurable. The now station is the most compact oi! all the VA's. Everything is on the one floor level—-itwo studios, two lounges, 4YA offices ami the transmitting rooms—and in this respect that station is distinctive From the olliors of the New Zealand chain.
All the experience derived from working the other stations, augmented by the best advice from overseas, has been brought to bear on the Duncdiu station, which is as well appointed and as well equipped technically as any broadcasting station in the world. The new 4VA is located on the top floor of the newly erected offices of the Dunedin Kvening Star, ami steel lat-tice-work towers, modelled on .the fiiminous Eiffel Tower support the aerial 150t't. above tin- f-'trc I h-01.
