Inspecting a farewell parade of British volunteer police, the High Commissioner, Sir John Chancellor, said Palestine would not forget their services. The British section of the police, backed up by volunteer special police, had saved the country at the worst from disaster, and at the best from a prolongation or extension of the ■ disturbances.
