BAGGING OF POTATOES CHINESE BEFORE COURT (,Special to the Herald.) AUCKLAND, this day. Tho practice of endeavoring to gain a better price for vegetables by patting .good stuff at the top of a sack is not regarded favorably by Mr. l‘\ K. Hunt, S.M. All Kee was charged at the Police Court with selling unwholesome vegetables, A plea of guilty Was entered on bis behalf, and it was explained that be had bought tho potatoes at the city markets. ~ He had rebngged them and sent them back to - the markets to be sold for him. Sub-Inspector McCarthy pointed out that in rebagging them the Chinese had put 20 per cent, of the potatoes that were any good on top of the sucks. The defendant was fined £2 and costs.
