FIRE ON STEAMER

COAL GIVING OFF GAS NO IMMEDIATE DANGER (Australian atul N.Z. Press Association.) (Received September 20, 11 a.m.) ALBANY, Sept. 20. The Irish steamer Knockfierna, en route to Melbourne from Immingliam, is making for Albany with fire in coal in No. 1 hold. A wireless message from the ship stated that the coal was very hot and was giving off a heavy quantity of gas continuously. There was no immediate danger, however, and the fire was being kept under control.
