PppK'S EARLY DEFEAT A FOUL ALLEGED (Australian and N.Z. Frew Association.) NEW YORK, August 12. George Cook, the Australian boxer, met Arthur DeKuh, a prominent local Italian heavyweight, at Starlight Park. The Italian won by a knock-out in the eighth round. DeKuh weighed in at 15st. 9Jib. and Cook at 13st. 61b. In the first round DeKuh 'a long reach was troubling the Australian, and he also gained the second and third rounds, although Cook fought hard in both. In the fourth round DeKuh, with a two-fisted attack, landed repeatedly to the face. In the fifth round there were repeated clinches, and then two rights to the face cut Cook's eye. In the sixth round the Australian was down on one knee, rising with a bleeding mouth and nose. The seventh round was Cook's. In the eighth round the men clinched. Suddenly Cook dropped to the eanvas 'holding his abdomen, claiming a foul. The referee counted him out. His seconds declared that the foul was n left below the belt landed in the clinch. The crowd boo-ed the victor, shouting, "Foul." Reporters agreed with the referee and the judge that there was no foul. The Tound had lasted 58 seconds.
