Judgments were given by Mr. P. H. Harper, H.M., this morning for plaintiffs in tho following undefended civil cases: A. Kumizona and others v. Alan Neil Boyd, £6B, and costs £4 lis 6d; Cook Hospital Board v. T. Gordon. £<> 2s, and costs £1 10s (id; Thomas Haisman v. Sonny Sydney, £2, and costs £] 8a 6d. Within a. few weeks there should be a. substantial display of early spring blossom in Poverty Bay. The first of the almonds, which usually lead the way with commercial trees, have been in blossom now for about a fortnight, while the earliest of the cherry plums aro beginning to show up. By the end of tho month there should he a fairly good splash of color in the orchards. The rainfall recorded, on the East Coast during May was as follows: East Cape, 10.80 in. on 17 days; Waiorongoinai station, 16.40 in. on 16 days; Pnkihiroa, 17..88in. on V> days; Ruanga rehu station, 14.82 in. on 25 days; Manga tarnta station, 16.43 in. on 21 days; O.whena. 16.26 in. on 21 days; Waihau, 8.78 in. on 21 days; Tolaga Buy, 10.42 in on 19 days; Motu, 3.62 in. on 13 davs; Koranga Valley, 6.49 in. on 20 days; Eastwood Hill, "7.o2iii. on 17 days;' Toromiro, 9.15 in. on 19 days; Ot'oko, 8.89 in. on 18 davs; Te Karaka, 6.77 in. on 20 da'-.s; Puha, 4.72iu. on 13 davs; Patutahi,*s.Bßin. on 19 days; Whakapunake, 13.15 in. on 21 days; Tahora, 18.04 in. on 20 davs; Gisborne, 8.33 in. on 19 days; Puninga station, 21.37 in. on 16 days; Mnngaonc Valley, 16.74 in. on 21 days: Mohaka, 17.39 in. on 12 days: Portland Island. 4.sli'n. on 16 days; Waikaremoana, 14.18 in. on 19 days.
