LEAGUE OF HOUSEWIVES PORMED IN BRITAIN LONDON. March 4. The Association of British Chambers of Commerce has sent a letter 'o its branches urging that fullest assistance be given to the League ol Empire Housewives, who are pledged to give, preference, first, to British and, secondly, to Empire products. The chambers are undertaking to advise housewives as to which are genuine Empire food manufactures, and also to assist to secure supplies of products where these are not sold locally.
The Times emphasises in a leader the joint appeal by Mrs. Amcry and Mrs. Lloyd George in connection with the ideals of the* League of Empire Housewives.
One result of the Empire Marketing Board's campaign is that it is causing people in Britain to realise the* mutual advantages which result from buying British goods. Indeed, it may he said that the principle of voluntary preference for British goods, now established, will in due course greatly strengthen the Empire chambers' action and will he tho one means of giving practical effect to patriotic sentiment. Moreover, tho chambers should be able to let producers know first-band the purchasers’ requirements in methods of packing and similar practical information.
