It is explained that the full amount can he voted in supplementary estimates if needed, in addition to the present vote, there is £350,000 unexpended to be earned forward, making available £900.000 from which the chief expenditure estimates are research and marketing £482,000, ami publicity £560,000. The gross estimate of expenditure for overseas settlement is £1,470,000, an increase of £50,000. The chief provisions are land settlement and development £615.000, assisted passages £692,000, settlement of migrants £65.000 and preliminary training £51,000. Provisions affecting New Zealand include the l-e-vote. of £SOOO for advances to settlers on then: own farms, £40,000 for assisted passages, and a grant of £20,000 for child migration.
