OBITUARY

MR. JIM CORNELL (Australian Press Assn.— TJiiited Service.) LONDuX, Feb. 10. Tho death is recorded of Mr. dim Cornell, secretary to the Workmen's Legal Society and author of "The Red Flag." One of the first white children born in Queen street, Auckland, Mrs. Mary Ann Murphy, died, aged 79 years, at her residence, Mount Eden. Mrs, Murphy was born in a cottage at the corner of Durham and Queen streets in 1849. The site is now occupied by the Metropolitan hotel. She claimed to be the first white girl born in Queen street and that the lion. Sir Edwin Mitchclson was the first white boy.
