SHOCKING CRIME

ATTEMPTED MURDER AND SUICLDE MELBOURNE, Dec. 28. Thomas Arblasler, 56, a dairyman, today wished his housekeeper, Margaret Smith, 52, a happy new year and then fired a revolver, wounding her in the neck and shoulder. Ife then turned the weapon on himself and fell dead. The motive is undisclosed, but it is believed that Miss Smith refused to marry him.
