AERIAL CONFERENCE

THE MENACE OF FOG SCIENTIFIC ELIMINATION (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) WASHINGTON, Dec. 13. The second session of the Aeronautical Conference was largely devoted to the discussion of the scientific elimination of the menace of fog to aviators. Dr. E. F. W. Alexandcrson, of the General Electric Co., explained the various methods of counteracting the dangers of mist with radio devices, notably sound-wave beacons. He also spoke of the aid given in landing in a mist by mechanical devices to lower to the ground while the plane is flying, which register the distance to earth by lights. Relief from the more technical features was offered by the presentation of the Harmon trophy for the year's greatest aeronautical contribution, to Col. Chas. Lindbergh, and Ihc presentation of Distinguished Flying Crosses to Orville Wright and the relatives of his brother, Wilbur Wright.
