SERIOUS ACCIDENT AVERTED (Per Press Association.) PALM EH STON N„ this day. While passing Porewa, near Marten, this morning, a bullock jumped on to tlit* permanent way in front of the engine of the south-lxiuml Limited express!, The accident threw the front bogey wheels of the engine off the line, but fortunately the engine kept to (lie permanent way, though the train was travelling at a speed in the vicinity of 45 miles an hour. When the train slopped ii was only I’d yards from the Porewa bridge, spanning a gully. It was a very dose escape from a serious accident.
