VISITORS TO BRITAIN
GREATER NUMBERS WANTED {Australian, and N.Z. Press Association.) (Received Dec. 14, 3 p.m.j LONDON, Dec. 13. The Government is sponsoring _ a scheme to form a large new association to advertise throughout the world and attract, visitors to Britain. Captain Hacking states that the scheme is being overwhelmingly supported. It aims at the formation ot an association with an income ot £30,000 a vear for five years. France last year had 1,800,000 visitors, who spent at least £75,000,099 to £100,000,000 in the country. Britain only received 412,000 tourists. Thu inaugural meeting will be hold at the Mansion House on December 20. The Daily Express, in an editorial, states that the Government should supply the cost of the scheme. Overtaxed industries cannot shoulder the expense of meeting State-subsidised propaganda that draws thousands of Americans to France, Italy, Germany, and Switzerland, and anywhere except Britain.
